How To Start Meditating

Slowing down and just doing nothing but appreciating your breath can be hard task especially if you're someone who is constantly on the move from one errand or place to the next, but I cannot express to you enough how extremely valuable it is. When you make time for yourself to have a break and I mean have a break without any distractions, no social media, no conversations, no YouTube, you are forced to be present and completely with yourself.

Adding mindful practices into your daily routine is going to help you get in touch with the core reasons why you're living life in fast forward instead of stopping to smell the flowers and overall benefit your mental, emotional and physical health highly. Todays practice we are focusing on is meditation. Now, I know what you're thinking 'I don't have time to meditate!' or 'I've tried and it doesn't work!' but if you've landed on this blog at this exact moment in your life you're obviously ready to commit and I am here to help you.

Creating space to do nothing is a simple task we tend to want to challenge and make complicated. You don't have set aside 2 hours worth of time to meditate, that can take years to build up to and is far to big of a leap for where you are right now so don't even bother entertaining extreme thoughts because they'll just overwhelm and put you off.
Instead, spend 5 minutes alone, either in the car before you step out to get your groceries, after you just put on a hydrating face mask, before you leap out of bed to begin your day, to tune into your breath and any tension you are currently harvesting in your body. This time is for you to ground yourself and reconnect with your soul essence.

If you do not have your full positive intentions set prior to meditating you are not going to reap the true benefits. No doubt thoughts will still race and pop up here and there but that is all part of this mindful practice. Do not get angry or frustrated at them or yourself, rather allow them to come in say hello and pass through with ease before returning your attention to your breath and the sensations in your body.

The idea of meditation is to help you peel away the layers of ego that no longer serve you any good and fall into the bliss of your highest self. I used to think mediating had to go for at least an hour and therefore put me off ever wanting to participate but now my day is filled with mini sessions when I start to feel like I'm slipping and they have changed my mindset for the better.

To recap: one 5 minute session once a day until you feel ready to incorporate a second and then a third. Focusing purely on your breath, trying to relax releasing any tension in the body.

Go slow and be gentle with yourself, you are learning a new practice as well as embracing yourself in ways you haven't done before.

I am proud of you. Love, Delilah.

The Start Of The Rest Of My Life

Welcome to my first ever post on my new blog The Resplendent Lioness!I have been working on many aspects of this blog for over the past week but to finally sit down and write my first is a very lovely feeling.
Only just recently have I recognised that as long as I can write I am deeply satisfied. I still crave intensely many MANY wonders, writing just gives my experience a sense of purpose that other loves just don't. The best way I can describe it is as if  I am the whole universe, writing is the sun, and my many other joys are planets and stars. All are important and make up the whole universe, this is key. Stars and new planets can be discovered but there is only one sun.  The complete source of warmth, bringing light to every part of me.
My desires to venture into the blogging world have only come about recently and suddenly but I believe in divine timing and this could not have entered my life at a more excellent time. I asked for a summer romance and I got handed a blog. My oh…

18 Life Changing Lessons I Learnt In 2018

Here we are again, the end of a book and this time it so happens to be the novel that was 2018. A lot occurred in the past 12 chapters and 365 pages and for all I find peace with and am grateful.
Moments have been filled with pleasure, some with agony, some with sadness, elation, shock, glee, gloom, mild insanity, only to name a few otherwise we'll be here for the whole of 2019 if I try to list all the adjectives I've felt recently. I actually really enjoy watching the pendulum swing every which way asking you ever so politely with a kick up the butt to keep and never stop progressing. So to sum it up my year was filled with a lot of butt kicking.
I used to HATE the thought of new years eve and even birthdays so much that I'd get emotionally and physically distressed about them. It meant that the clock kept ticking and chapters kept ending, a concept my little eleven year old self didn't want to have to accept. Ever. It's only been this year that I've embraced th…

The 10 Albums That Transcended In 2018

Albums and EPs that I listened to non-stop in 2018 and you should listen to too!My favourite 10 releases in 2018 that features artists you will immediately fall in love with.

I spend a decent amount of my time admiring the artistic expression of music. It is something that I hold very close and very, very dear to my heart. Along with writing, music brings the most indescribable and monumental feelings of pure elation and raw electricity.
My favourite genre of music is the kind that leaves me feeling like I just saw through space and time in the matter of minutes and now I know every secret to the universe... so basically I'll go for anything that makes me feel like I'm high.

2018 was a year of some spectacular breakthroughs in music from new artists entering the scene or familiar faces re-inventing what they have to offer. Now, more then ever you're bound to find someone somewhere on the globe making something to cater to your very specific likes. I can't guarantee you…
